Happy Thanksgiving 2010

This year, instead of improvising with a basket from the back of the closet, Evyn and I bought an actual cornucopia basket so that she and Reed could properly decorate our table. We always leave the centerpiece to them, and we always love what they come up with. This year, we had the very last pepper from our summer garden, a real pumpkin and gourd, some fake pumpkins and gourds, a cute little turkey, sea shells, a nut, a pod from a tree in our yard and then topped off with silk fall-colored leaves.

Other than decorating the table, stuffing the turkey was a job that the kids wanted this year. They talked about sticking their hands in the turkeys "butt" for at least 48 hours before today. I just love the expressions on their faces as they took turns stuffing the turkey.


We had a mellow day with only three guests....our favorite granddaughter and her entourage. It was perfect. A day that started with cooking, the parade, the dog show and looking through the newspaper at black Friday sales and ended with a tasty meal, Ashley's delicious homemade apple pie surrounded by some of the most important people in our world.

Ramona even tried to help by giving the dishes a prewash.


All of the turkey day festivities began with a first grade performance and feast on Wednesday. This is my favorite indian, Chief Big Head Little Neck.
