October is Infant Loss Month

October 5th is a hard day for my family. It is the day that our Skylar passed away in 2007. As a parent, mom and friend, I have known many who have also suffered the loss of an infant either before birth or after birth. This has affected our family in unspeakable ways and there are millions more out there who have been faced with this indescribable grief or know someone who has.

In October of 1988, Former President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the month of October as pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. As part of the Awareness Wave of Light, on the 15th of the month people across the country light candles at 7 p.m. to remember those they have lost. I ask that you light a candle for Skylar and all of the other infants who live on in the hearts of those who were touched by their short lives. Thank you!
