Random update

I have so many thoughts, so little time. Actually, I recently wrote a post about how much my life is like Groundhog Day and then started hearing news reports of the swine flu, earthquakes, piracy, life-altering illness, and attacks and decided not to whine and did not click on "publish post." Don't we all live some version of Groundhog day - same old thing - I think you know what I'm talking about.

This week is a new week, I have fresh perspective, we are all healthy and mostly happy and, most importantly, it feels like summer has arrived. I'm good, all is well, end of story.

Although the news has already traveled through our network of friends and family, the Lively Pool is now officially open, scrubbed, is blue and ready for children swimmers only. Know why? Because they are the only humans crazy enough to willingly jump into water that is 62 degrees F. They generally do not swim for long and jump out right before hypothermia sets in but after their bodies have started to shake uncontrollably. Yes, we let them do this. Yes, we might also be crazy too.

On the soccer front, Evyn and her goofy, slightly uncoordinated running/movements is rockin' the soccer field. She is actually in there playing the game versus running behind the pack as she did before. She has scored at least one goal during each game and is obviously having fun, learning strategy and is just cute as she can be out there running around with her perma-grin.

Reed is slowing warming up to soccer. This is his first time playing, so he struggled the first game and practice but he is getting it too. I have not seen him play yet since he and Evyn play in different parts of town around the same time of day. He is also all about Holly these days and wants her to be his personal soccer mom.

Today I did something that I have been thinking and obsessing about for months. I signed Reed up for kindergarten. If things go as they should and he continues to come out of his shell and mature emotionally, he will be getting on the school bus with Evyn September 8, 2009. We have until July to make the final decision, but for right now, I'm excited about this next phase for my little man!
