She's 8 years old!

Evyn is eight years old today. Each time one of our kids has a birthday, we wonder how in the world the time is passing us by so quickly. I look at Evyn and I still see her sweet nature, although there is some bossy behavior breaking through. She is beginning to look a us like we are idiots when we ask her to do things she does not want to do. She is now 4' 7" which is like a head shorter than Holly, Mimi or our Aunt Sue. There is no stopping this girl - shes rapidly becoming a pre-teen. She has front teeth now after being toothless for 5 years. She can no longer flash me my (old) favorite smile - a smile with teeth together and tongue sticking out where her top teeth once were. She now flashes a new favorite smile - a smile with big front teeth, coming in at various stages and angles that screams "I'm not a baby anymore."
This year, Evyn wanted a slumber party, so we invited a few girls to come over and eat some pizza and then we headed for the mall to a kid salon for some girlie fun.
All five girls got manicures and then got to choose between glitter makeup or painted toe nails.
After being beautified, the girls got to create an ice cream sundae which was really sugar scrub for the bath and the sprinkles were aromatherapy. It was all set up like an ice cream bar and they loved making their glittery, lovely smelling bath scrubs.
Then, it was home for cake (a very groovy cake made by Sissy), t-shirt painting, dancing, squealing, singing, yelling and not sleeping. Holly and I expected the event to be stressful and all about survival, however, we had a blast too and partied right along with them. It was an evening to remember and exactly what Evyn wanted.
