Earth Day is becoming my favorite occasion to celebrate. There are no special family gatherings, gifts to buy. It's a day for people who already care about their earth to do more, or a day for those who really don't care to at least think about throwing their water bottle in a recycling bin instead of the trash.
The theme at Evyn and Reed's school this year is going green, and they seem to be doing a good job getting the messages out there. It really amazes me how earth conscious young kids are these day. My kids regularly discuss recycling, using old things to make new things and eagerly pick up trash at the park while stating that people that litter are not being kind to the earth. It is an important thing to know about, in my garden-growing, tree-hugging opinion.
Earth Day this year led to the school declaring it Walk to School Day, which we were proud to participate in. One mile and only one busy road to cross, it was the perfect way to start the day. It will also be the perfect way to end the school day.
